Andalusia is one of the prettiest regions in Spain. In the South of the peninsular you can discover Spain the way you've imagined it to be. You will find several impressive cities and picturesque villages which will enchant you. I advise you to personalize your route by choosing the cities you want to see. In this article I want to recommend you the cutest towns you can find in Andalusia.

When is the best time to travel to South Spain?

The answer depends completely on your preferences. Do you want to go climibing or into the mountains? Do you like skiiing or do you prefer beach holidays?

South Spain offers a huge diversity. If you want to go skiing in Sierra Nevada it's obvious that you should go in Winter. If you are planning to make a roadtrip to different cities like Cordoba and Sevilla I recommend you to do this between the end of September until May, as the summer months are too hot and especially in months like May the temperature in the interior can be around 30ºC, while it possibly reaches in July and August 45ºC.

If you want to come to Andalusia in order to relax, go to the beach, drink sangria and travel along the coast, it is possible to come here in the hottest months but you shouldn't forget to put suncream on (obviously it will be still hot but next to the beachside or a pool it's possible to stand the temperatures).

Sevilla

Sevilla took an immense advantage out of the two EXPO expositions which converted the city into a wonderful paradise. The city had a huge influence during the Siglo de Oro, as all the gold the Spaniards brought from South America was storaged in the city and transformed it to the center of Europe. One of the must-sees is the Maria Luisa Park, as well as la Plaza de España and of course la Torre de Oro. You should definitely plan two or three days for discovering all the city's treasures. Be careful! It is unbelievable hot during the summer months, hence it's recommendable to visit Sevilla between September and May.

Cadiz

According to documents, the city on the west coast is one of the oldest cities in Europe. Cadiz is a beautiful city located next to a dreamy beach and posseses a big harbour. In the region which is named after the city you can find the most stunning beaches in Andalusia but also the city itself has a lot to offer. One of the main attractions is the Santa Cruz de Cadiz Cathedral which attracs a lot of visitors. Furthermore the city is perfect for enjoying a lovely sunset and eating delicious fish. You can visit this town definitely in one day but it's worth it to stay a few days longer in order to explore the paradiasic beaches. You can visit the city throughout the whole year. Even though it is very warm in summer it's quite chilly thanks to the wind.

Malaga

Starting your roundtrip from Malaga is probably the best option, as it has the biggest airport in Andalusia and offers several Ryanair connections to other cities. The climat in Malaga is throughout the whole year very pleasant. During the winter it's usually 15ºC during the day, while the temperature in Spring and Autumn is 20ºC ish. Only in Summer it gets quite hot and the temperature is higher than 30ºC. Malaga is Pablo Picasoo's birth place and you can visit his flat, as well as his museum and other monuments. When your planning to explore the city deeply and spend a whole day at the beach, you should stay two days but basically you can see Malaga in one day.

Ronda

Ronda is an enchanting little city built upon rocks and surrounded by giant canyons. Hemingway mentioned the pictorial city in his books and an excursion to this village is highly recommended. To be honest the city isn't very big and you can see it in an afternoon but it's definitely a must-see. You will llove this place!

Cordoba

Cordoba's city center consists out of crooked, white strees and was several hundreds of years ago a place where christians, muslims and jews lived peacefully together. The cathedral, which was a mosque before, attracts yearly thousands of visitors. and is definitely a Must-See. You also have to visit the roman bridge and stroll through the little streets. You should definitely try Salmorejo (a cold tomato soup served with ham or tuna) and Rabo de Toro (ox tail). One or two days are enough for exploring the city on your own.

Granada

I can’t deny that Granda is my favourite city. The former capital of the Al-Andalus is located close to the Sierra Nevada and offers amazing views. You can still see the arabic influence in the city’s architecture. One of the most important monuments of the city is the Alhambra. If you desire to visit the world heritage you should buy your tickets a few weeks ahead of your trip online. Moreover the city is ideal for enjoying some great tapas, as most of the bars give you one for free with your drink. If you’re planning to visit the Alhambra you should stay at least two or three days in this magical city.
